Woolpower Wool baselayers

Fifty Sense Seal of Approval

Woolpower thermal undergarments are made 100% in Östersund in northern Sweden., where they have been manufacturing Merino Wool base layers since 1972.

Interesting fact about wool: Wool is hard to ignite and only catches fire at very high temperature. Wool is based on a protein, which in itself is a fire deterrent, and its property of trapping vapor also contributes. Once wool catches fire, the flame is not fed, but the fibers are charred and the fire dies. Learn something new every day!

Zip Turtleneck 400

Made of 69% Merino Wool this mid layer garment provides many features and functions.

The wool fiber's crimped structure traps large quantities of air and provides good heat insulation. Air between the fibers reduces the heat conduction within the material, and therefore has an insulating effect against both heat and cold.

Wool can absorb both between the fibers and inside of them, so it feels dry against the skin even when moist.

Because of it's ability to wick away moisture and keep you insulated this piece tested great for both downhill and Nordic skiing. During these activities your body temperature can fluctuate quite quickly. I was never cold and was dry and warm.

It has a short zipper to allow for ventilation, and it makes it easier to get on and off! The back is dropped slightly lower to make sure there are no draft gaps. It also gives it a more flattering fit.
