Review: Sebago Shoes
This is a man’s man shoe if there ever was one. Sebago has collaborated with Filson to create this incredibly stylish and tough boot. They use tin cloth from Filson, full-grain waterproof leather and rawhide laces to pull it together. You could sprout a beard just reading this. Even with all this man-talk there are surprising comforts abound.
The midsoles are EVA, which are lightweight and provide nice cushioning. The Vibram rubber outsoles have nice lugs that translate in to nice grip. Overall, the Osmore wears really well all day once you figure out how high you prefer to lace them up.
We really wanted to see how versatile these boots were. To put them to the test we wore them at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City for a day. In a single day, our tester walked nearly 8 miles in the Osmore boots. This usually results in a yes or no type of test. The answer was a resounding yes.
Upon returning home, the tester decided they felt so good that they would take them out for a 3-mile hike on a trail with the dog. Again, the answer was yes. Therefore, if you want to know if the Osmore boot is as comfortable as it is good looking, the answer is absolutely.
Most people know Sebago as a boat shoe company featuring lovely, comfortable docker-style shoes. What you may not know is that they offer an incredibly comfortable, yet beautifully styled boot as well!
These boots are waterproof from the inside out! Starting with a Poliyou foam cushion sock insert covered in breathable smooth leather and waterproof insole complete with steel arch shank and laytex forefoot cushion to keep you feet comfortable and dry. Then moving to the outside they have a seam-sealed waterproof cement construction, follow by a waterproof full grain leather upper and a water-resistant zipper.
It is always great to have stylish boots, but most of them can’t stand up to the comfort test and weather conditions. These boots are made of gorgeous leather yet function like rain boots!
We put these to the test stomping all over for a 5 day city tour excursion and encountered all types of weather from sunshine to mud- these boots not only looked good, even in the mud, but they were super comfortable as well!
