Review: Baffin Winter Boots
The Evolution performed spectacularly in the frozen tundra of northern Wisconsin fishing on frozen lakes, shoveling the driveway out from the plow and trekking to the store on a day too cold for cars. Without a polar expedition on the docket like those that the president of Baffin, Paul Hubner has taken, this is the next best place we had to put these boots to the test. This is the type of boot that is clearly designed for cold by those who have been cold and let down by other boots. There are 7-layers of insulation inside to keep you warm all-day.
This is important when ice fishing and they are not biting. Yes, for those of you below the 45th parallel people sit on a frozen lake, cut holes in the ice and fish. The Evolution is extremely comfortable and rather easy to fit considering their considerable bulk. They have a comfort rating of -60C/-76F. Wear these boots with confidence in the most ferocious winter storms of ice and snow.
Finally a winter boot that looks good while it keeps you warm! There is a 7-later removable liner with Thermaplush for exceptional moisture transport, keeping your feet dry and warm! This boot has a temperature rating of -40F. This should keep your feet warm no matter where you are, unless you are crazy enough to set off on a winter trek across the Arctic. But don’t worry- Baffin has boots for that too, boots that will keep you warm to temperatures as low as -148F!
One of our favorite features on this boot is the quick-pull lacing that gives you precies fit and makes for easy on/off- even with gloves! It makes for quick adjusting on the go without having to take your gloves off and risky cold hands- keep your feet AND hands warm! It was also really nice how easy it made to take them off when you come indoors on a frigid day.
The grippy outsole with integrated arch makes for confident winter walking. Whether out for a winter walk/hike of just out to your mailbox you can feel safe and stable on a paved road, gravel, or snow!
Yes, these boots performed superbly functionally. But, they are also a great looking boot! So many winter boots are clunky and unattractive. Not these! They have a lovely classic look using Timberwolf leather and natural shearling upper. They look great as an après-ski boot, heading out for a walk, or even heading into town, anywhere, anytime!
